A unique case has come to light in the Family Court of Bhopal. Devrani and Jethani of a joint family returned after being absconding for three months. Devrani’s husband, who is the younger brother, is now seeking divorce. Jethani’s husband, elder brother, has left the city due to embarrassment. It is alleged that before marriage, a young woman from the neighborhood was attracted to Jethani. He married Jethani’s brother -in -law and married her and came home. The counselor of the family court is counseling both. The matter is not resolved yet.
Deep secret was hidden behind marriage
Mukesh and Sadhana were married in 2023. Both lived on different floors in the same building. Initially, their relationship looked like a normal love marriage. But Sadhana and her Jethani disappeared from the house for three months. Later it was learned that Sadhana was attracted to her brother -in -law since childhood. She wanted to live with Jethani.
Love to brother -in -law was just an excuse
Mukesh says that Sadhana pretended to love her only so that she could enter the house and stay close to her brother -in -law. He himself became a “instrument” and no longer wants to move this relationship forward. In contrast, Sadhana is refusing to divorce and is fighting in court for its rights.
Three months absconding and subsequent storm
When Sadhana and her Jethani went missing from the house, there was a panic in the family. Complaints were made to the police and searched in many places. But when she suddenly returned after three months, it became clear that the case is not of a family disagreement, but of emotional and sexual engagement, which is still uncommon for society.
Sadhana and Mukesh were married in the year 2023 before the wedding was attracted to her sister -in -law. Both lived in a joint family. Brother-in-law and mother also lived together. Everything was going well. One day Mukesh came to know that wife Sadhana is Lesbian. Sister -in -law is also lesbian. It was also revealed that there is an affair between wife and sister -in -law. The family came to know about this for the first time.
Before the family members explained to the wife and sister -in -law, both disappeared from the house. The family searched them, but was not found. Then complained to the police. After about three months, both of them returned suddenly one day. On his return, it was found that Sadhana was already attracted to the sister -in -law before marriage.
Actually, Sadhana lived with his mother on the upper floor of the building on which Mukesh and his family lived on the lower floor of the building. Mukesh and Sadhana used to get an eye on each other. Gradually the conversation started between the two.
Mukesh came to know that Sadhana was using her to reach the sister -in -law. Actually she wanted to reach her sister -in -law. Mukesh was a ladder to reach there. Sadhana pretended to love with Mukesh.
Mukesh no longer wants to live with her after the truth of wife Sadhana surfaced. Due to Sadhana’s lesbian behavior, quarrels in the house also increased. Distance started coming between Mukesh’s brother-in-law. Mukesh has filed for divorce in Family Court Bhopal. However, Sadhana does not want divorce.
A woman can spend life with another woman, Family Court, Senior Counselor Shail Awasthi of Bhopal says- Lesbian has her own freedom, but our society is not so open yet. People hide these things. The housemates feel that if they get married, things will be cured. This does not happen in reality.
Somewhere we should respect the privacy of every person. If he is gay then it is fine, he should stay in his community or live that kind of life. It is not that a woman cannot live life with another woman or a man cannot live a life with another man.
Society boundaries and personal freedom
Senior counselor of Family Court Shail Awasthi said that gay relationships in the society are still not accepted. People think that everything will be alright by getting married. But this does not happen. If someone’s sexuality is different, then pressing it increases mental pain. This also deepens family crisis.
Solution still incomplete
Currently, counseling of both sides is going on in the family court. Mukesh wants divorce, while Sadhana wants to maintain this relationship, perhaps because she still hopes to live life with her brother -in -law. This case is not only a family dispute, but also highlights the approval and lack of sensitivity to LGBTQ+ in Indian society.
