Do not invite PM Modi to the upcoming G7 summit, anti -India agenda of Sikh organizations in Canada intensifies

Canada
Sikh organizations settled in Canada have once again intensified the anti -India agenda and demanded the government not to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the upcoming G7 summit. The conference is to be held next month in Canada’s Canayanskis (Alberta). Prime Minister Modi has been invited to the G7 Summit but this time the ‘Sikh Federation’ and ‘World Sikh Organization’ in Toronto have said that Modi should not be invited unless India cooperates in the criminal investigations going on in Canada. Sikh organizations have alleged that in 2023, Vancouver may play the role of the Government of India in the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Apart from this, India is also accused of involvement in many other violent incidents. Despite this, the Liberal government of Canada is engaged in increasing trade with India and improving relations which seems unacceptable to the Sikh community.

These countries were called to G7 conference
France
United kingdom
Germany
Italy
Japan
America
Chairman of European Commission

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been invited to guest countries outside the G7 and has confirmed that they will come. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has also been called but he did not confirm. Ukraine President Volodimir Zelanskey Way is coming, but the Canadian government is silent on whether Prime Minister Modi will be called or not.

India-Canada Relations Status
After the assassination of Nijjar in 2023, there was a huge tension in the relationship between the two countries. Recently both sides have indicated to increase trade and mutual cooperation.
On May 25, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand had a “meaningful conversation” with the Foreign Minister of India and both had asked to increase economic cooperation. The matter is not just about an invitation, but also the voice of human rights, criminal justice, and migrant community. Sikh organizations want Canada to prioritize human rights and demand concrete cooperation from India. If you want, I can also create an analytical editorial or strong opinion article.
