Madhya Pradesh is a state in the heart of the country that is setting a new example in the entire country in the field of women empowerment today. Under the efficient leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh government has made self-help groups a strong medium of women empowerment. Self-help groups are not only making rural and urban women financially self-reliant, but also strengthening their position at the social level. In the recent past, Madhya Pradesh has achieved many achievements in the direction of women empowerment under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. Many policies and schemes of the government are proving to be helpful in the upliftment of women.
Life changed through self-help groups
Self-help groups in Madhya Pradesh are considered to be the backbone of rural economy. Currently, more than 5 lakh self-help groups are active in the state, with about 62 lakh women connected. These groups are providing women’s economic freedom, skill development, and community leadership opportunities. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav believes that self-help groups are not only a means of economic empowerment, but also a mass movement of social change. The Madhya Pradesh government has introduced several ambitious schemes for women through self-help groups, which can be felt in every corner of the state. The Chief Minister’s Enterprise Shakti Yojana has supported thousands of women groups at low interest and supported their small businesses. Now women are not only running homes, but also providing employment to others. So far, an amount of 648.67 lakhs has been distributed as 2 percent interest grant to 30 thousand 264 women groups and 12 thousand 685 women entrepreneurs.
“Ladli Bahna Yojana” encouraging savings
Under the Ladli Bahna scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1551.86 crore is reaching their accounts in the account of 1.27 crore sisters every month. Due to this, not only the situation of financially women is getting better but women are also becoming participants of the digital age. Under this scheme, 1.27 crore women have been provided more than Rs 35,329 crore so far. Additionally, 25 lakh women have been assisted more than Rs 882 crore for gas cylinder refilling for Rs 450. The scheme is encouraging women to financially empower women as well as savings in their families.
Chief Minister- “Ladli Laxmi Yojana” set examples
Under the Chief Minister Ladli Laxmi Yojana, 2 lakh 73 thousand 605 girls were registered in the year 2024-25 and a scholarship of more than Rs 223 crore was distributed through Uni-Pay. So far, a total of 50 lakh 41 thousand 810 daughters are part of this scheme.
‘Hum Hoga successful campaign’ got honored
Under the Nari Shakti Mission, the state government launched a 100 -day awareness at the district, project and village level “Hum Hoga success”. In this, women of gender dialogues, domestic violence, child marriage, cyber security, harassment at workplace and digital literacy programs were not only informed, but also taught them to stand for their rights.
‘Lakhpati Didi’ inspired towards economic self -reliance
The Madhya Pradesh government has made more than 1 lakh women ‘Lakhpati Didi’ through self-help groups. The government aims to make 62 lakh women self-sufficient through 5 lakh self-help groups. This initiative is motivating rural women towards entrepreneurship and economic self -reliance.
Women entrepreneurship is getting encouragement
More than 850 MSME units have been provided assistance of Rs 275 crore in Madhya Pradesh, which has given encouragement to women entrepreneurs. In addition, women working in the readymade garment industry are being given an incentive amount of Rs 5,000 per month, which is increasing their monthly income.
‘Women’s Helpline’ and ‘Women Police Station’ are giving security
The state government has kept women’s safety in its priority. The number of women in the police force has been increased and a provision of strict punishment has been made in the case of crimes against women. Services like ‘Women’s Helpline’ and ‘Women Police Station’ have also been strengthened. Women’s Helpline 181 and Child Helpline 1098 have now been linked to 112 emergency service. In the year 2024-25, about 82 thousand 552 women have received quick assistance. Since the start of the scheme, one lakh 57 thousand women have got benefits.
Growing steps of Goddess Ahilya Women Empowerment Mission
This mission was started on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Ahilya Bai Holkar in the state. This mission is dedicated to making women economically and socially empowered. Under this mission, self-help groups were linked to the start-up campaign, in which investment letters worth Rs 8 crore 10 lakh were distributed. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, not only empowerment opportunities have been created for women in the state, but now women are actively participating in various fields by exiting traditional domestic work.
UNICEF appreciated sanitation and hygiene
Under the Sanitation and Hygiene scheme, more than 19 lakh girls of the state have been provided assistance of Rs 57 crore 18 lakh, which has promoted the health and hygiene of adolescent girls. UNICEF has also appreciated these efforts of Madhya Pradesh.
