The water Ganga enhancement campaign has been proving to be a boon for Bundelkhand, which has been facing the brunt of drought, water crisis and migration for a long time. With the efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Saugat Ken-Betwa River-Link Project has been launched in Bundelkhand. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the picture and destiny of Bundelkhand is going to change with the construction of water conservation structures being carried out by the State Government’s Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign. The farmers here will have enough water available for irrigation and drinking water in the coming time, as well as increase in ground water level. This will be possible by the construction of more than 8 thousand farm-ponds and more than 128 amrit lakes being constructed in the region. With the completion of these water structures, rainwater will be saved. Due to this, the residents of the region will keep the availability of adequate amount of water in every season, as well as the ground water level will increase. Due to the availability of adequate water, people here will also be able to cultivate fisheries and vegetables.

The Panchayat and Rural Development Department is constructing farm-ponds and Amrit ponds in Sagar, Tikamgarh, Panna, Niwari, Chhatarpur and Damoh districts of Sagar division under the Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign for adequate availability of irrigation and drinking water to the farmers of Bundelkhand. Under the campaign, 972 in Tikamgarh, 1377 in Damoh, 408 in Niwari, 2298 in Sagar, 1421 in Panna, 1677 farm-ponds are being built in Chhatarpur. Also, 17 Amrit Sarovars are being built in Panna, 17 in Chhatarpur, 16 in Tikamgarh, 23 in Damoh, 11 in Niwari and 33 in Sagar.

Cleaning of water structures of temple complexes

In Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad, the Gaurihar unit cleaned the Bihari pond in collaboration with local residents in Khaminkheda village under the Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign. Cleaning was done in Puran Talab and Hanuman Temple premises in Gram Panchayat Nidhauli. The members of the institution gave detailed information to the villagers about water conservation and measures to preserve the reservoirs. The villagers were also administered an oath of cooperation in making the earth green by planting trees on the ridge of the field or empty land, keeping water sources clean and protected.
