Royal Enfield is preparing to launch a hybrid motorcycle in the Indian market. The company is going to bring a bike that will give tremendous mileage along with being affordable. Equipped with 250cc hybrid powertrain, this bike will be kept in the segment below Hunter 350.
Royal Enfield’s hybrid motorcycle
The motorcycle segment in India is moving technically rapidly and now Royal Enfield also does not want to lag behind in this race. The company is working on a completely new 250cc hybrid motorcycle, which will not only give better mileage but will also be quite economical at the price.
First step in hybrid segment
Royal Enfield is going to step into the hybrid bike segment for the first time. This new bike will be positioned below Hunter 350 so that more and more young customers can buy it. This bike will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain of 250cc which will be able to give mileage up to 50 km per liter.
According to media reports, the ex-showroom price of this hybrid motorcycle can be around Rs 1.30 lakh. The company’s purpose is to make this bike an attractive option in terms of both budget and mileage. The launch date has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected that it can be launched in the market by the first half of 2026.
Technical partnership scheme
In this project, Royal Enfield can make a technical partnership with China’s famous bike manufacturer CFMOTO. However, it will not be a joint venture or cross-busy, but only a partnership based on technical cooperation. Engine and electric components can be supplied by CFMOTO, while Royal Enfield will handle the design, chassis and suspension of the bike itself.
Fully localized production
The company is also updating its Chennai plant for this new hybrid bike. Royal Enfield aims to make 85-90 percent of components of this motorcycle in India itself. This will reduce the cost and the customer will get better bikes at an affordable price.
Powerful mileage and performance
The largest plus point of this 250cc bike will be its mileage. This bike running in both electric and petrol modes can give more than 50 kmpl mileage on full tank and charge. Also, its performance will also be premium so that there is no compromise with ride quality.
Design and features
Royal Enfield will include modern features by retaining its traditional style in this bike. The bike can be given features like digital-analog instrument cluster, LED headlamp, USB charger, Bluetooth connectivity and side stand cut-off. Efforts will be made to keep the design youth friendly and attractive.
Long -term plan of the company
This move by Royal Enfield is part of its large long -term strategy. The company aims to take the current 10 lakh units of annual production capacity to 20 lakh units by 2030. For this, she is working on plans to bring many new models in entry-level, mid-size and premium segment.
The company is also getting ready for EV
In view of the increasing electric demand in the market, Royal Enfield is also preparing for the EV segment. However, by starting with hybrid, the company wants to give customers a transition option so that they can get acquainted with hybrid technology before adopting the EV.
Work on 750cc bikes also continues
Apart from 250cc, the company is also making large plans in the 750cc engine category. This segment is known for high performance and touring bikes and the company is also preparing to bring many models in it. This will further strengthen Royal Enfield’s premium portfolio.
