During the first phase, the local people had gone to the Gujarat High Court and demanded to stop the demolition, but the court did not stop the demolition, calling all the constructions on the pond illegal. After this, the administration demolished 4 thousand illegal constructions. Now in the second phase, the rest of the illegal constructions will be demolished and the part of the pond will be evacuated. The administration will also ensure that there is no illegal construction again at this empty space.

City Police Commissioner GS Malik said that about 3000 police personnel and 25 companies of SRP have been deployed in two shifts. The process of removing the encroachment may last for the next 3-4 days.

In the affected areas, loudspeakers were announced for two days and appealed people to vacate the house. There were quite illegal Bangladashi in Chandola area without legal documents. Most of them have now been sent.

It was claimed that parts of the area were also being used to conduct illegal activities. Prior to 2010, people living in the area have been asked to take the form from the ward office for EWS housing. Security forces are patrolling the area.
