20 Maoists arrested including PLG Battalion deputy commander in Telangana, huge amount of weapons recovered

The Telangana police arrested 20 armed Maoists from the Mulugu district on Friday and Saturday, who fled after a campaign by security forces on the Karragutta hill on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. Three INSAS rifles, four SLRs, a 303 rifle including 28 weapons, two live grenades, 58 thousand rupees in cash and other items have been recovered from them.

The arrested Maoists include PLGA Battalion-1 Deputy Commander Kunjam Lakkha and five Area Committee members Marigala Smati, Makam Kosi, Podium Jogi, Madvi Seema, Muchaki Ranju and 14 other party members.

According to the Telangana police, the search operation was on after the campaign on the Karegutta hill. Meanwhile, six Maoists were arrested from the Palem project of Venkatpuram police station area and seven Maoists from Wazedu and Kannaiigudem police station area.

Police said the arrested Maoists were involved in several major attacks like Burkapal (2017), Kistaram (2018), Minapa (2020) and Tekalgadem (2022).
