Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas and Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah Al-Sisi have urged the immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
According to the report, at the 34th Arab League Summit held in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas called for adopting the Arab scheme to stop Israeli military operations and establish peace in the region. Abbas emphasized that permanent peace can be achieved only by ending Israeli occupation and ensuring full rights of Palestinian people.
Since the ceasefire broke in March, Israel killed hundreds of Palestinians in the deadliest bombing since Thursday. At the same time, US President Donald Trump ended the Middle East tour on Friday. Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah Al-Sisi strongly condemned the ‘atrocities and violence’ on the Palestinians in Gaza for the last 19 months, stating the objective of the violent campaign to end the population of Gaza.
Al-Sisi requested the international community, especially the US, to take strict steps to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He also reiterated Egypt’s commitment to organize an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza after the end of enmity.
After the end of the summit, the Hamas -run media office in Gaza called upon the attendees to break the unjust blockade on Gaza and stop the daily killings. The people of Gaza are now facing the danger of starvation. For this, the crossing was urged to increase the pressure on Israel for immediate and unconditionally opening and unconditionally opening, food, humanitarian assistance and medical aid to the people of Gaza.
In his address, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Nawaf Salaam condemned Israel’s enmity and urged the international community to come forward to control it. He said that the frequent attacks by Israel are violated between the two sides in the end of November last year.
Salam further said, “Dear brothers, we call you, the international community to pressurize the international community to force Israel to end its attacks and completely withdraw from all the Lebanese areas.”
United Nations Assistance Head Tom Fletcher asked the Security Council this week if she would take action to “stop the massacre”. Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani announced a fund to help in reconstruction of Arab countries after the war, promising an initial amount of $ 20 million for Gaza and Lebanon, where a large part of the southern part was destroyed in the Israeli campaign against the Hizbollah group last year.
The summit was attended by leaders of 22 billion league member countries and representatives of top diplomats as well as regional and international organizations. This is the second event organized by Iraq after the 2003 American invasion. The first event was held in 2012.
Israel has again started a military operation on Gaza after a six -week ceasefire. Israel alleges that Hamas works among the terrorists. However, the leaders present at the summit opposed it. Israel’s declared goal is to eliminate Hamas’s military and government abilities. Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October 2023, killing around 1,200 people and over 250 people were taken hostage.
According to Gaza health officials, the Israeli military operation has destroyed the crowded area of the region. 2.3 million residents are forced to leave their homes and more than 53,000 people have been killed. International pressure is increasing to resume a ceasefire negotiations on Israel and allow food and medical supply to Gaza.
