Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today visited the village Gabhara of the development block Chuikhadan and inspected the Siddha Baba reservoir project under construction there. This ambitious project is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 220 crore, which will strengthen the irrigation and water supply system of the region. It is noteworthy that the Siddhbaba Small Reservoir Scheme proposed by the Government of Chhattisgarh has received administrative approval. This ambitious project will be installed on the Lamma River near village Urtuli in the district, which is located 22 km from the district headquarters.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 220.07 crore. It has been approved by Water Resources Department, Ministry Mahanadi Bhawan, Naya Raipur -Atal Nagar on 9 March 2022.

Irrigation will have a big expansion

The total waterlogging capacity of the Siddhbaba reservoir has been fixed at 9.496 million cubic meters. Its construction will provide irrigation facility on about 1840 hectares of land in a total of 34 villages in Khairagarh-Chuikhadan-Gandai, Bemetara and Durg districts.

885 hectares in 19 villages of Khairagarh assembly constituency (such as Gagra, Bundeli, Suradari, Kotra etc.). 820 hectares in 11 villages of Saja assembly constituency of Bemetara district (such as Pachrasori, Jaano, Sohagpur etc.). Similarly, 4 villages of Durg district (Agarakala, Nawagaon etc.) include 135 hectares.

Reservoirs will also get life

Water supply will also be provided to 23 small reservoirs from this project, which will provide new energy to water conservation and agricultural production. These include: 13 reservoirs of Chuikhadan development block, 7 reservoirs of Saja development block, 3 reservoirs of Dhamdha development block agriculture and

Rural economy will get strength

The project will not only strengthen irrigation facilities, but will also play an important role in the economy, food security and farmer self -reliance of rural areas. This is expected to provide permanent relief to many areas facing drought.
