BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who returned to India after 21 days after 21 days, has shared his experiences during a phone conversation with his wife Rajni. He told his wife that he was not even allowed to sleep at night during imprisonment in Pakistan. Continuous questioning was done. Pakistanis used to act as if PK Shaw was a detective.
On April 23, Purnam Kumar Shaw accidentally entered the Pakistani border while on duty in Ferozepur sector of Punjab. The incident took place the very next day of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Pakistan’s army took him into custody and had not been able to contact him since then. The Government of India started pressurizing through diplomatic channel, after which it was released from Pakistan.
After talking to her husband on Wednesday, Rajni Shaw said, “He told that he was not given physical torture, but mentally tired he was completely tired. He was picked up every night for questioning. He said that he used to get food, but did not allow him to clean his teeth. The tiredness was clearly visible in his voice.”
Placed in three different places
Rajni also told that Purnam Shaw was taken to three different places. One of them was probably a place near an airbase, as there were sounds of airplanes. All this was a further enhancing experience of his mental stress. Rajni Shaw proudly said, “He has been serving the country for the last 17 years and will continue to do further. We are all proud of him. He will return to duty again.” If Shaw was not discharged early, Rajni himself is planning to go to Pathankot and meet him. Let us tell you that on Wednesday evening, Purnam Kumar Shaw was brought to India through the Attari-Wagah border, where he was medical examination and debriving.
