New Delhi
Consumer Protection Regulatory CCPA has ordered e-commerce companies such as Amazon India and Flix to remove Pakistani flag products. Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi gave this information on Wednesday. CCPA has also sent notice to Youboy India, ETSI, The Flag Company and The Flag Corporation. These companies have been forbidden to sell Pakistani flags and related goods.
Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi posted a post on social media. He said, ‘Such insensitivity will not be tolerated. E-commerce forums are instructed to immediately remove all such materials and follow national laws. This means that the government will not allow to sell such products. The government wants e-commerce companies to immediately remove these products and follow the laws of the country.
This order warns for e-commerce companies
However, in the minister’s post, it was not clear which law is being broken. It is not clear which law is being violated by selling Pakistani flag items.
The incident took place after a tragic incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir. 26 people were killed by terrorists in Pahalgam. After this, tension between India and Pakistan increased.
This order of CCPA is a warning for e-commerce companies. They have to ensure that no product is sold on their platforms that hurts the sentiments of the country or violate the law. The government will take strict action in such cases.
E-commerce companies will have to be careful
This case shows how careful e-commerce companies should be about the products sold on their platforms. They have to ensure that they do not violate the laws and feelings of the country in any way.
This order reflects sensitivity and respect for the national spirit of the country. Many people in India can consider sales of symbols such as Pakistani flags, especially in the current geopolitical context and after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Online sales of such products can also be worrying from the point of view of national security. However, it does not directly threaten security, but it can promote hostile feelings.
This order also puts the responsibility on e-commerce platforms not to be more alert to the nature of products being sold on their platforms and ensure that they do not violate local laws and emotions.
