Balrampur

The police team, who arrived in Libra village of Balrampur district located on the border of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand on the night of 11 May, was attacked by sand mafia on the police team. In this attack, constable Shiv Bhajan Singh was crushed brutally with a tractor and was brutally murdered. The incident has created a sensation in the entire area and there is a lot of resentment among the general public.

After the incident, the Chhattisgarh High Court has issued a notice to the Department of Minerals, taking self -cognizance of the case. At the same time, investigation so far has revealed that illegal sand smuggling was going on for years in the area, but no strict action was taken by the Department of Minerals.

Explain that illegal storage of sand in the Garhwa region of the border state of Jharkhand has become such that it has now taken the form of ‘mountain of sand’. However, after the incident, the work of removing him as soon as possible is also going on. Former minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi has also written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Garhwa informing that if these illegal activities are not banned, there can be more serious incidents in future.

At the same time, the situation in Chhattisgarh is that the local administration, whether collector or SDM, has not been able to take any concrete initiative on this serious issue so far. The officials of the Department of Minerals are not responding to the calls of neither the public, nor the public representatives nor the journalists. The matter of field visit is far away. It is believed that if the department was cautious on time, then the life of constable Shiv Bhajan Singh could have been saved.

IG suspends station in -charge
However, after the incident, IG Deepak Jha of Surguja Range has shown readiness and suspended the Sanwal police station in -charge for allowing action without adequate force. But District Collector Rajendra Katara has not yet summoned any response from the Department of Minerals or other responsible officials.

Significantly, the transfer of Mineral Officer Ajay Ranjan Das was reduced to Raigad on 8 May, but he has not been relieved yet. Illegal sand mining is going on in full swing in villages like Pachwal, Kundru, Tarakeshwarpur, Libra, Bal Chaura and Anirudhpur in Sanwal police station area and the mining department remains mute spectators.

District Collector condemns the incident
When the response was taken from Collector Rajendra Katara to this entire incident, he said, “The incident is condemnable. The concerned area is condemnable, in the border of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, in which illegal mining has also taken place in Chhattisgarh. Some complaints were also received and I had sent SDM on the spot. However, three tractors had caught the police earlier. However, due to non -load, then there was a little action under the Motoristory Act due to lack of mineral wealth. There is difficulty, but tasks such as illegal mining will be banned.

Surguja IG Deepak Jha is constantly monitoring the incident
Significantly, Surguja IG Deepak Jha is constantly monitoring the incident and is camping in the Sanwal area itself. Many police teams are looking for the accused. According to sources, some suspects have been arrested.
