Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today reviewed the works of Panchayat and Rural Development and Agriculture Department in the Ministry (Mahanadi Bhavan). The meeting reviewed the status of effective implementation of state and center schemes and future development strategies were discussed. Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan praised the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment and administrative functioning and said that the state has done exemplary works in the field of agriculture and rural development. He said that it is our priority to empower the concept of advanced village and happy farmer to realize the resolve of developed India.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said in the meeting that the Chhattisgarh government considers rural development and agriculture as the backbone of the state. He said that our aim is not only to implement the schemes, but to ensure the overall prosperity of the villages. It is our highest priority to increase farmers’ income, create employment opportunities and strengthen the infrastructure. The Chief Minister also underlined that it is a common responsibility to reach out to the remote and disadvantaged areas of the state in collaboration with the central government, which the Chhattisgarh government is determined to fulfill.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the real good governance is to make the rural economy self -sufficient, bringing digital services to the end and giving skill -based employment to the youth. He said that our strategy is to bring changes in public life instead of keeping the plans limited to the figures.
While reviewing the schemes of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department in the meeting, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan stated the need to connect the ‘Amrit Sarovar’ scheme with local livelihood. He said that this will provide employment to the villagers and concrete results will be revealed in the direction of water conservation. On the request of the state government, Union Minister Shri Chouhan assured the revision of labor budget under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA). At the same time, while reviewing the progress of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), he stressed on the early construction of sanctioned houses and physical verification of the new survey being conducted.
Union Minister Shri Chouhan appreciated the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction works being done under the Need Neeed Nelanar Yojana, which is especially in Naxal -affected areas. He said that this scheme is bringing development to remote and challenging territories of the state. The Union Minister appreciated the ‘Atal Digital Facilitation Centers’ launched by the Government of Chhattisgarh in Gram Panchayats and described it as a revolutionary step towards digital empowerment in the rural economy. He suggested that this innovation should be studied and implemented in other states as well.
Reviewing the agriculture sector, Shri Chouhan said that for the increase of farmers’ income, efforts are not only necessary in allid areas like animal husbandry, horticulture, fisheries. He encouraged scientific agricultural practices, advanced seeds, organic farming and adoption of crop cycle. Giving information about the special initiative being launched by the central government, Shri Chouhan said that the team of scientists will visit various districts of the state and train farmers in practical and scientific agricultural techniques. He urged the state government for active participation in this initiative.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan expressed confidence that the central and state governments will jointly bring Chhattisgarh to a new peak of development with innovative experiments and commitment in the field of agriculture and rural development. Chief Minister Shri Sai assured that the Chhattisgarh government will take all possible steps to convert this shared resolution into a ground reality.
