IMF gave bailout package of $ 1 billion to Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif said- Thank you

New Delhi

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced a bailout package of $ 1 billion to Pakistan. This was confirmed by the office of Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif (PMO). The PMO said that the IMF on Friday (May 9, 2025) has approved an amount of $ 1 billion to Pakistan immediately under the current extended fund facility.

According to PMO’s statement, “Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the IMF approved a $ 1 billion installment for Pakistan and failing India’s arbitrariness against it.” The statement said that Pakistan’s economic situation has improved and the country is on the path of development.

India expressed strong opposition

India on Friday opposed the proposal of IMF to give a new loan of US $ 2.3 billion to US $ 2.3 billion and said that this money could be misused to finance the state -sponsored border terrorism. India kept distance from voting in an important meeting of the International Monetary Fund on this issue.

The results of the voting remained in favor of Pakistan and got a loan from the IMF. India expressed concern over the IMF programs in view of Pakistan’s poor previous records as a responsible member country. The Finance Ministry said in its statement that this amount received to Pakistan can be used for the finance of state sponsored border terrorism.

‘IMF money is going to terrorist organizations’

India also reiterated that financial assistance to Pakistan indirectly helps its intelligence agencies and terrorist organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, who have been carrying out attacks on India.

Pakistan’s economy dependent on IMF

Explain that Pakistan’s economy, which is struggling with Kangali, is badly dependent on IMF aid. It is seen as a message to the IMF and other multilateral financial institutions to distance away from this voting of India that giving financial assistance to Pakistan without taking concrete steps can be dangerous in terms of regional security.

How does the international community think…

CA Omar Abdullah of Jammu and Kashmir said that I am not sure how the “international community” wonders that the current tension in the subcontinent will decrease, when IMF will essentially reimburse Pakistan for all the armaments that it is using to destroy Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Tangdhar and many other places.

Dangerous messages for global community- India said

It is worth noting that the IMF Board met on Friday to review the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) loan program, in which India registered its protest. A new flexibility and stability facility (RSF) loan program ($ 1.3 billion) was also discussed in this meeting.
India said that repeatedly rewarding the border terrorism leads a dangerous message to the global community. This ends the reputation of funding agencies and donors and is ridiculed by global values.
