A big decision has been taken by the Indian government for the OTT platform amidst the ongoing fierce battle between India and Pakistan. Earlier, social media accounts of Pakistani actors in India were blocked and now the government has taken a big decision regarding the Pakistani content being shown on OTT. Advisory for OTT platform has been issued by the government.
The Government of India has now taken an important decision under national security. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India has issued a statement in the interest of national security. In this statement, the Ministry has instructed all the OTT platforms, media streaming platforms running in India to immediately stop streaming of any content made from Pakistan.
Strict government on songs, podcasts or any kind of content
It can contain web-series, movies, songs, podcasts or any kind of content. Then whether it is free or under subscription, it should be closed immediately. This decision by the Government of India has been taken between the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan and the ‘Operation Sindoor’ run by India at this time.
The list of ‘Code of Ethics’ was given which the publishers have to follow
In this advisory issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, it has also been said that many terrorist attacks are related to the government and non -government elements present in Pakistan. Recently, many Indians and Nepali citizens were killed and many injured in the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April 2025. The Ministry has implemented Part III of the Information Technology Rules 2021, which has been given the list of ‘Code of Ethics’ which the publishers will have to follow.
