Cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh in road accident


This new scheme was started by the Modi government at the Center for the purpose of getting immediate treatment to the seriously injured in road accidents. The Ministry has issued a notification on 6 May 2025 in this regard.

Explain that the Central Government has implemented a new scheme to treat the injured in road accidents. The central government has launched the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme, 2025. Under this scheme, people injured in a road accident will get cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway has started this scheme. The Ministry has also issued a notification in this regard. This scheme of the government can prove to be very important after the Ayushman scheme.

Like other schemes of the central government, millions of people will get the benefit of this scheme. According to this scheme, if someone is injured in a road accident, then cashless treatment of up to Rs 1,50,000 will be available from the date of accident to 7 days. The main objective of this scheme is to reduce the number of deaths in road accident every year due to not getting timely treatment.

According to road transport data, 4.80 lakh road accidents occurred in the year 2023. Of these, 1.72 lakh people died. The ministry aims to reduce the number of lives in a road accident by 2030 by 50 percent. Apart from this scheme, the central government is also running ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana’. Under this scheme, in the case of accidental death or vicidity in an accident, family members get Rs 2 lakh.

They get the benefit of the scheme

All the citizens of the country will benefit from this scheme of the Modi government at the Center. According to the notification of the ministry, ‘Any person who is injured on the road due to motor vehicle can get cashless treatment under this scheme. Apart from the hospitals selected for this scheme, treatment will remain in a hospital until the condition of the victim becomes stable before.

Committee will monitor the plan

The nodal agency will be formed to implement in all the states and union territories of the country. This council will be provided with the list of hospitals on the portal by combining with the National Health Authority (NHA). Along with this, they will also be responsible for the treatment of victims and payment to hospitals.

The central government will also form the steering committee to monitor the scheme. This committee will be chaired by Road Secretary, along with the CEO members of NHA. On the other hand, the committee will also have Additional Secretary of Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
