After losing his father at the age of ten, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Dev Sai did not have time for sports and fun. Being the eldest of the four brothers, he immediately took up the responsibility of the family on his shoulders. CM Sai said that perhaps that is why he could never pay attention to personal interests and now he is only relaxed in social work.

Sarpanch made at the age of 26

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai talked about his family and his political journey. He told that he was elected the punch of the village in his youth and five years later he became a sarpanch at the age of 26 in 1990. He said, “I never thought that I would become a sarpanch.” However, after this his political journey continued. Sai was elected MLA thrice and four times MP. He reached the pinnacle of power in the year 2023, when he was elected the first tribal Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. He said, “Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi is also called a tribal Chief Minister but his tribal status remained in controversy till his death.”

Death died at the age of 10 years

CM Sai said that “I did not get a chance of sports in childhood as my father passed away at the age of 10.” After his death, the responsibility of the whole family came on my shoulders because I was the eldest of the four brothers. My youngest brother was two months old then. My father had three brothers and they all lived in different villages. I had to take care of my younger brothers and mother as well as farming work in our village Bagia. ”

He said, “Then I decided to educate my brothers by farming so that they could succeed in life. I never thought of becoming a sarpanch. ”Sai said that he left college and became the punch of his village at the behest of local villagers. He said, “Some people of the village asked me to become punch and I took over this responsibility. After watching my work for five years, he chose me unopposed in 1990. ”

BJP gave tickets

He said that assembly elections were held in the state within six months of becoming a sarpanch and was fielded as BJP candidate. He said, “I was 25-26 years old and was learning. I told the party that ‘I do not deserve to be an MLA’. In 1990, I contested and won from Tapkara seat in Jashpur district of Madhya Pradesh. This was the beginning of my journey as an MLA. ”

Sai was elected from Tapkara for the second consecutive time in 1993. In 1998, he contested the assembly elections from Pathalgaon seat in the neighborhood, but lost. Later he was elected MP from Raigad Lok Sabha constituency in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014. After the formation of Narendra Modi -led government at the Center in 2014, he was appointed Union Minister of State for Steel and Mines. He is an MLA from Kunkuri seat in the current assembly.

How was politics journey

He served as the President of Chhattisgarh BJP from 2006 to 2010 and then from January 2014 to August the same year. After BJP’s power in 2018 in the state, he was again given the responsibility of leading the party as the state president in 2020. He said, “I entered politics for ‘public service’. It is nice to listen to people and try to solve their problems. I get a lot of satisfaction when I help sick people. I never thought that I would be a politician. Whatever responsibility I was assigned to me, I fulfilled them with full devotion and honesty. ”

Mini AIIMS was called Delhi’s house

Recalling his residence in Delhi as an MP, recalling “Mini AIIMS”, Sai said, “Late BJP leader Dilip Singh Judeo used to come to my flat in Delhi and there was a stagnant of relatives of people admitted in AIIMS Delhi, saying that you have made your house ‘Mini AIIMS”.

Used to arrange food for the patient’s family members

He said, “When I was the Minister of State at the Center, I used to arrange food of 70-80 people daily, whose families were hospitalized. Even after becoming the Chief Minister, I have established the Kunkuri Sadan here, where various types of assistance and guidance are provided to people coming to Raipur from across the state.

Many family members in politics

Sai comes from a political family. He told, “My family has been in politics since the beginning. After independence, my grandfather was the nominated MLA nominated from 1947 to 1952. My uncle (son of grandfather’s younger brother) late Narhari Prasad Sai worked as an MLA three times and was also elected as an MP (1977–79). He served as Union Minister of State in the Janata Party government. Later my cousin Rohit Sai was also elected MLA. ”The Chief Minister said that his father’s elder brother Kedarnath Sai was also elected MLA from Tapkara as a Jana Sangh member.
