For the last two weeks in the huge and inaccessible hills of Karegutta in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, security forces have been conducted on a large scale anti-Naxalite operation. As part of this campaign, there has been a major encounter late on Tuesday night, in which more than 18 Naxalites have been killed by security forces. The figure of killing Naxalites may increase. Arms and explosive materials have been recovered from the slain Naxalites.
This operation is being carried out continuously for the last 14 days. In which many Naxalites have been killed. In view of the geographical location of the Karegutta region, the search operation is being described as challenging, but security forces are conducting search and patrol operations.
If sources are to be believed, intelligence information was received about the presence of some top Naxalite leaders and battalion number one in the region. On the basis of which the operation was intensified. It is expected that the number of killed Naxalites may increase further, as the action of security forces is going on at many other locations.
However, the local police has not yet officially confirmed this encounter. The Karegutta hilly region has been known for Naxalite activities earlier. In such a situation, this action of security forces is considered a major success towards weakening the Naxalite network in this entire area.
More than 200 IEDs recovered
According to information received from sources, the soldiers have recovered more than 200 IEDs during the search in Karegutta area. The soldiers are deployed at a height of about 5000 feet on the Karegutta mountain. It is believed that now if the Naxalites tried to enter Chhattisgarh from the Telangana border, then they will face the soldiers directly.
Piles entered into a stronghold of Naxalites
Armed soldiers are conducting a search operation on the hill peak, crossing the rocks, crossing the bamboo clumps, wild bells. These mountains and forests have been a safe place for Naxalites in Bastar for years. Naxalites are fully aware of these difficult areas.
He said that this campaign, one of the biggest anti -Naxal operations launched in Bastar region, included soldiers of various units including District Reserve Guard, Bastar Fighters and STF of Chhattisgarh Police, Central Reserve Police Force and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (Cobra) jawans.
Officials said the campaign continues on the interstate border on the inter-state border, in an area of about eight hundred square kilometers on both sides of Bijapur (Chhattisgarh) and Mulugu and Bhadradri-Kothagudem (Telangana). This place is 450 km from the capital Raipur.

For the first time, the soldiers have conducted an operation in Karegutta. Earlier, the soldiers had never conducted an operation on these mountains, which the Naxalites have taken advantage of. Now the situation has changed. The soldiers have captured the mountain. The soldiers are now moving forward according to the strategy, struggling with all kinds of difficulties to reach the Naxalites. Neelam Sarai, Dobe, Nambi, Durgamgutta and Karegutta are hill range under the scope of Usur police station area of Bijapur, on which the operation is currently being carried out. Taking such a hill range in their possession, the soldiers are constantly looking for Naxalites.
