Jhabua
Between the preparations for Ujjain Simhastha-2028, there is a hope of starting air service in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. For this, a proposal of about 52 crores has been sent to the government for the expansion of Air Strip located in village Gopalpura, just 4 km from the district headquarters, which is expected to be approved soon.
Currently, helicopters land on the same air strip during the VIP visit. Since, the length of Air Strip is just 792 meters. Therefore, big planes cannot be landed here. For this, the length of the runway will have to be increased. For this, the Public Works Department had prepared the estimate and sent it to the government. The length of the runway will be 2600 meters. Also, aircraft hanger, control room, electrification and boundary wall are proposed to be constructed as infrastructure.
Land will be taken from forest department
The length of the runway will require additional land. For this, transfer of land will have to be done with permission from the forest department. Because, the land required for the expansion of the runway is under the forest department.
End of air strip benefits
Traffic at Indore Airport will increase a lot during Ujjain Simhastha. In such a situation, small planes will also be removed here due to the expansion of Jhabua’s air strip. Then pilgrims and tourists will be able to go directly to Ujjain by road. The special thing is that the name of Jhabua’s Air Streep is also included in PM Shree Tourism Air Service and PMshree Religious Tourism Heli Seva.
Construction was done 35 years ago
According to information received from the Public Works Department, Air Streep at Gopalpura of Jhabua was constructed 35 years ago in 1989-90. Currently, during the VIP visit, helicopters land here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed here by helicopter during the Jhabua tour twice.
Aviation Training Center Plan to open failure
There was a plan to open Aviation Training Center in Gopalpura. For this, an agreement was also signed between Aerospace Academy of Central India and State Governments in the year 2006-07. Under this, Air Streep was leased for 10 years. However, the matter could not proceed and later the contract was also canceled.
Proposal for expansion of Air Streep has been sent
EE Arif Mohammad Gauri of Jhabua Public Works Department says that the proposal for expansion of Air Streep located in Gopalpura of Jhabua has been sent to the government. The proposal is expected to be approved soon in view of Ujjain Simhastha. This will be better both in terms of development and tourism of the district.
