Russia has reiterated the commitment to support India in the fight against terrorism. President Vladimir Putin on Monday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. He expressed deep condolences on the death of innocent people. He spoke of giving full support to India in the fight against terrorism.
Jaiswal said, ‘Putin emphasized that the culprits and their helpers of this heinous attack should be brought into the dock of justice. The two leaders reiterated their commitment to deepen the Indo-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership. The Prime Minister greeted President Putin on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day and invited him to the annual summit to be held in India later this year.
External Affairs Minister Sergei Lavarov also made a special appeal
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov had expressed concern over the increasing tension between India and Pakistan on Sunday. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, there is a lot of conflict between India and Pakistan. Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Minister appealed to both countries to take restraint and stop any kind of lead.
26 people killed by terrorists in Pahalgam
On 22 April, 26 people were brutally murdered by terrorists in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Most of those who lost their lives were tourists. The attack is considered to be the biggest terrorist attack after the 2019 Pulwama attack. India has taken tough steps after this attack. It also includes the announcement of suspending the Indus Water Treaty of 1960. The treaty was made about water sharing between the two countries.
