New Delhi
Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi has sent notice to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and some others. This notice is related to the National Herald case. The ED i.e. Enforcement Directorate has filed a charge sheet against all of them. This case is of money laundering. The court has fixed the next date of May 8, 2025.
Full right to hear the accused for the accused
While issuing the notice, the court has said that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other accused have the right to hear the charge sheet. The court said that everyone should get the right to hear. The court further said that for a fair hearing, it is necessary that every accused be heard. Therefore it was necessary to issue notice. The court wants all the accused to get a chance to speak. This will ensure that the case is heard correctly.
Earlier, the court had just refused to issue notice to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders in the National Herald case. Special Judge Vishal Gogane took this decision while hearing the ED’s petition. The ED says that according to the new rules, the complaint cannot be taken care of without hearing the accused. The court was not satisfied that it is necessary to issue notice. The ED says the law has changed. According to the new law, the complaint cannot be noticed without listening to the accused. The ED told the court, “We do not want this order to go long, issue a notice.”
Earlier the court refused to issue notice
The judge said in the hearing on 25 April that the first court would have to see whether it is necessary to issue a notice or not. The judge said that the court will also have to see if there is any shortage in the case. The court said that some essential papers are missing in the charge sheet. The court has ordered the ED to submit those papers. The court said that it would decide on issuing the notice only after receiving the papers.
