GST collection broke records, record collection with 12.6% gains in April


With the beginning of the new month, good news has come for the country. There has been a great increase in GST collection during the month of April. With this increase, the GST collection has reached the record high level. According to government data, in April, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection rose 12.6 percent to a record high level of Rs 2.37 lakh crore from year to year.

Earlier, the most GST collection took place in April 2024, which was Rs 2.10 lakh crore. However, now this record is also broken. This collection was Rs 1.96 lakh crore in March 2025. GST revenue increased by 10.7 percent to about Rs 1.9 lakh crore due to domestic transactions, while revenue from imported goods increased by 20.8 percent to Rs 46,913 crore.

How much GST collection was from January to March

According to government data, this collection stood at Rs 1.96 lakh crore in March, which is a growth of 9.9% compared to the previous year. The GST collection stood at Rs 1.83 lakh crore in February, a growth of 9.1% year-on-year. At the same time, in January also, Rs 1.96 lakh crore was GST collection, which shows the growth of 12.3%. The major reason for the increase in GST collection every month has been an increase of domestic demand in the country.

GST collection happened more in these places

The GST collection in Lakshadweep has grown 287%. In states, Arunachal Pradesh has recorded a growth of 66%, while Meghalaya and Nagaland have increased by 50% and 42% respectively. Large states like Haryana, Bihar and Gujarat have also recorded double digits growth. In contrast, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura and Mizoram saw a decline, which saw the biggest decline of 28% in Mizoram.
