The PM Modi government has increased the dearness allowance of central employees and inflation relief of pensioners by 2% from January 2025, after which the DA has increased to 55%. After the Center’s announcement, the state governments have also started increasing the DA, but the government employees of Bihar are still waiting.
Earlier it was reported that a proposal for DA increase may come in the cabinet meeting to be held on Friday, 25 April, but it did not happen. It is now expected that before Akshaya Tritiya, the Nitish Kumar government of the state can increase the DA of Pensioners who get the benefit of the 7th Pay Commission to 55%. The new rates will be applicable from January 2025, so an arrear of 3 months will also be available. However, official confirmation is yet to be done. 6 lakh employees and 4 lakh pensioners will benefit from this.
Last time 3DA increased in November 2024
- In November last year, the Nitish Kumar government had increased the DA 3% of 10 lakh employees of the state from July 2024, after which DA increased from 50 to 53%.
- In December 2024, the DA increased from 243% to 255% from the 5th Pay Commission employees and family pensioners.
- Under the sixth pay scale, it was approved to give 246% DA in place of 239% with the impact of 1 July 2024 to employees and family pensioners receiving salary and pension.
Till now these states have increased DA Hike
The central government increased the dearness allowance and relief rates of central employees and pensioners by 2%, after which DA has increased from 53% to 55% since January 2025. After the Center, Rajasthan, UP, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana and Odisha governments have also increased the dearness allowance of their employees pensioners, after which DA has reached 55%.
In this regard, the Finance Department of different states has also issued orders. The new rates will be implemented from January 2025, in such a situation, an arrear of 3 months will also be available. The salary of the April which will be available in May, will be given the benefit of employees ‘salary and pensioners’ pension. About 60 lakh employees and pensioners of these 5 states will get its benefit.
