Jaspreet Bumrah became the fourth Indian to take 300 wickets in T20 cricket, Lasith Malinga’s big record

Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah equaled veteran Lasith Malinga’s record for the highest wicket of the most wickets during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bumrah, who took the wicket of Hyderabad star batsman Henrik Klassen, also touched the 300 wicket mark in T20 cricket. Jasprit Bumrah has become the fourth bowler to take 300 wickets in T20 career.

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwin (315), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (318) and Yuzvendra Chahal (373) have achieved more than 300 in T20 cricket. Bumrah achieved this feat during the match played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday. He took Henrik Klassen’s big wicket for 39 runs in four overs, which was dismissed by 71 off 44 balls.

In IPL 2025, Jasprit Bumrah has taken five wickets in five matches. Taking a wicket against Hyderabad, Bumrah equaled Lasith Malinga’s record in terms of taking the most wickets for Mumbai Indians. Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga have taken 170 wickets for Mumbai. Bumrah has only one wicket rate to break Malinga’s record. Lasith Malinga is currently the fast bowling coach of Mumbai Indians.

With this, Bumrah has become a bowler to jointly take the eighth highest wicket in IPL history. Malinga had done the feat of taking 170 wickets in 122 innings, while Bumrah took 138 innings. Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets to make third place in the points table.
