Bhopal
Two Mail King Cobra, brought from Karnataka to increase the population of King Cobra in the state, has been kept in Van Vihar Bhopal. In return, the state government will give a tiger and tigress pair from Van Vihar to Karnataka. It was already contracted for this. The tiger pair will be sent to Karnataka after the rainy season.
At the same time, one of the two Mail King Cobras in Van Vihar will be sent to the King Cobra Indore Zoo. Indore is a female king cobra at the zoo.
The state government will give tigers to Karnataka as well as Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Odisha. The state government will give 15 tigers to these three states.
Among them, eight tigers (two tigers, six tigress) will be given to Chhattisgarh, four tigress to Rajasthan and three (one tiger, two tigers) to Odisha.
Consent has been reached about this. These tigers will be sent from Bandhavgarh, Pench and Kanha Tiger Reserve.
For this, a condition has also been placed that the process of sending tiger and tigress should be done under the supervision of the team of veterinarians.
Special care should be taken to the tiger’s life, not any kind of danger.
The state concerned will have to bear the entire cost of sending the tigers and it will have to be duly allowed from the Government of India.
A decision will be taken soon to send the Mel King Cobra Indore Zoo from Van Vihar or to bring the female King Cobra Van Vihar from there. Our effort is also to bring a female king cobra from other states. L Krishnamurthy, APCCF Wildlife Headquarters, Bhopal.
