Pakistan’s condition is very bad before India’s strict diplomatic action after the Pahalgam terror attack. The new report of the World Bank has revealed that about 1 crore people in Pakistan may be hit by a serious food crisis in this financial year. The Government of India has earlier suspended the Indus River Agreement with Pakistan in 1960. India has said that this action will continue till Pakistan stops supporting terrorists.

Washington-based World Bank has given serious warnings about Pakistan’s economy in its bi-annual report Pakistan Economic Update released on Wednesday. According to the report, about 1 crore Pakistani citizens may face intense food crisis in FY 2024-25. Along with this, there has been a possibility of increase in poverty rate in the country.

The economic growth rate in Pakistan has been reduced to 2.7%, lower than earlier estimates. Production has been under pressure due to strict economic policies. The government will not be able to achieve the target of financial deficit. According to the report, the total debt load will increase, which will also be higher in the proportion of GDP.

Pakistanis will yearn for agrarian crisis and grain

According to Pakistani channel Tribune dot PK, the production of crops like paddy and maize has decreased due to climate change and bad weather. Due to this, the risk of food insecurity has increased, especially in rural areas. About 19 lakh more people can go below the poverty line. The employment rate is only 49.7%, which suggests that the participation of youth and women is low. 62% of women and 37% of the youth are neither studying nor in employment nor are involved in any training.

Wages increased but earning zero

The nominal wages of daily wage laborers may have almost doubled, but the actual income has been stable or decreased. The working class, such as masters, painters, plumbers etc., are facing inflation. The expenditure on social security did not increase according to inflation. This has made more difficult things for the poor like food, health, education. According to the year 2024, 8,231 monthly income per adult has been considered a poverty line. On this basis, poverty rate is expected to reach 25.4%.
