Methane Gas (GAS) was leaked from the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) plant in Mandideep Industrial Area, about 35 km from Bhopal. There was a stir in the area after the incident. It is a matter of honor that in time, gas leakage was taken under control and there was no loss of life.
Officials said the production of nearby industrial units was temporarily discontinued under vigilance and road traffic was also stopped. The safety team from Jaipur (Jaipur) is reaching to investigate. According to the agency, the incident took place around 2 am when methane gas leaks at Gail’s plant. The fire safety team reached the spot as soon as the gas leak was reported.
After much effort, the leakage can be prevented at around 10 am on Wednesday. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chandrashekhar Srivastava said that as soon as the leakage was reported, the administration immediately took action and stopped operating all the units within the 200 meters of the plant and the road was also closed.
Project manager said- Gayle’s project manager D Dongre has told the situation under control. He said- The leak has been controlled. There is no possibility of any kind of damage. There is no need for school leave or emptying the surrounding area. Collector Arun Vishwakarma, SDM Chandrashekhar Srivastava, SDPO Sheela Surna and Naib Tehsildar Nilesh Sarwate have reviewed the plant.
Collector said- Collector Arun Vishwakarma, who is conducting safety audit, said- Gas leakage from midnight in the plant. We came to know about this at around five in the morning. Now the leak has been stopped. The entire area has been sanitized. The condition is not serious. We are getting the safety audit of the plant. Safety SOPs will be prepared to ensure that there is no such incident in future.
SP Pankaj Pandey said- Safety of the plant is being investigated. After this, the causes of gas leaks will be ascertained. PNG supplies of homes and industries. Gail’s plant in Mandideep is near the Government Civil Hospital. Here LNG is converted into PNG (piped natural gas) and supplied from pipeline to homes and industries. From here the company supplies domestic, commercial and industrial gas. The plant has a store capacity of domestic gas 750 SCM, commercial 1600 SCM and Industrial 7500 SCM.
SP Pankaj Pandey Told that the gas spread in the air and there is no information about any kind of loss of life. At present, production work has been stopped from the plant and security measures are being reviewed. Administrative officials and experts have been posted on the spot from overnight and extensive steps are being taken to ensure the safety of the plant. Rajiv Aggarwal, president of the Mandideep Industry Association, said that this was a level-3 gas leakage incident, which is considered serious. However, it is a matter of relief that there was no loss of life and property.
SP Pankaj Pandey Told that experts have repaired the equipment caused by leakage and the situation is now under control. A major accident was averted due to the readiness of the local administration. Two years ago, the gas was leaked, about two years ago, there was a leakage of gas from the Gayle plant. Mercapton liquid was being added to CNG gas in the plant. Meanwhile, 10 to 12 drops of remaining liquid fell down in 6 inch pipes. The smell of this chemical spread so fast that in a few minutes it reached Satlapur, about half a kilometer away. People had problems with eye irritation, nausea, vomiting and dizziness.
