A few days before the tragic killing of 26 tourists in Pahalgam, a tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, there was a gathering of terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) Commander Abu Musa openly appealed for jihad and violence against India during a ‘Tribute Conference’ at Khai Gala in Rawalkot district here.
The conference was held on 18 April, which also included the top faces of several terrorist organizations. Abu Moses allegedly leads the ‘Jammu and Kashmir United Movement’ (JKUM). Addressing the gathering, he described the end of Article 370 and 35A as a ‘conspiracy to change the demographics of Kashmir’ and called for a fresh terrorist attacks in the Kashmir Valley.
Threat in viral video
In a viral video verified by Indian intelligence agencies, Abu Moses Kah (Said) is, “India tried to spoil the population balance by removing 370 and 35A. You sent your 10 lakh army. You (You) ‘Ram Ram’ (Ram-Ram) wanted to listen to your challenge. Hai, Modi must have passed the order in your closed courtroom, but the ground is of Mujahideen.
Whose conference was held in whose memory?
The event took place on 18 April in memory of two terrorists – Akif Haleem and Abdul Wahab. Akif Haleem was killed by the 21st Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army in an encounter in Kupwara on 17 March. Abdul Wahab, Lashkar and its associate organization People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), who was killed on 24 April in Sopore area of Baramulla. Both terrorists belonged to the same family and were residents of POK.
Pakistani government support
Intelligence agencies have expressed apprehension that security and logistics support was given on the ground by the Pakistani administration. Although the Awami Action Committee had earlier claimed that no terrorist organizations would be involved in the event, but the presence of many active Lashkar terrorists on the stage and the ‘Gauravagatha’ of the martyrs made it the power of terrorists.
New wave warning of attacks
Abu Moses and other terrorist leaders are feared to have a new wave of infiltration in Kashmir during the summer season due to the inflammatory language and openly glorifying terror. Traditional infiltration routes – Kupwara, Poonch and Rajouri – become more active in summer and through these routes, terrorist activities can be intensified.
