Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the North Block in New Delhi today. In the meeting held by Shah, a review was reviewed for the implementation of three new criminal laws in the state. Along with this, there was a discussion on eradication of Naxalism, overall development of Bastar and further empowering security and justice system in the state. Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma and many senior officials of the Union Home Ministry and the State Government were present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the Indian Code, Indian Civil Protection Code and Indian Evidence Act. Along with this, the implementation of various new provisions related to police, jail, courts, prosecution and forensic was reviewed.
Giving information in the meeting, Chief Minister Sai said that administrative and technical preparations have been completed in Chhattisgarh to implement new criminal laws effectively. 27 types of SOPs and guidelines of 27 types of SOPs have been implemented in the state. Along with this, about 37,385 policemen have been trained. Courts, police stations and jails are equipped with e-evidence and video conferencing systems. So far 53,981 FIRs have been registered under the new laws in the state, out of which about 50% of the cases have been introduced.
Special strategy was also discussed in the meeting for a permanent solution to the Naxal problem. The Chief Minister said that in recent months, many wanted Naxalites have been killed, arrested or surrendered in the operations conducted in the state. Efforts such as the development of homestand and tourism structure in tribal areas have had a significant impact of connecting the youth with the mainstream with efforts such as Nayad Neeed Nelanar Yojana, Bastar Olympics, Women Safety Center, and tribal areas.
The Chief Minister also informed that the state government is committed to make Chhattisgarh Naxal -free by the year 2026 and is working rapidly towards developing Bastar as India’s major tourist center.
Chief Minister Sai also assured that Chhattisgarh will follow the central government’s guidelines with full devotion and will play a leading role in effectively implementing this initiative of legal reforms across the country.
Appreciating the work done by the Government of Chhattisgarh so far for the implementation of new criminal laws, the Home Minister stressed on implementing 100 percent in the state soon.
Home Minister Amit Shah expressed coordination and readiness with Chhattisgarh and said that the purpose of new laws is to make the justice process simple, fast and more public oriented.
The meeting was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Pingua, Inspector General of Police Sushil Dwivedi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Rahul Bhagat, Principal Secretary Vidhi Rajneesh Srivastava, Secretary Home, Mrs. Neha Champawat and other officials also attended.
