The journey of millions of devotees going to the Chauragarh temple of Hill Station Pachmarhi is going to be easier soon. Ropeway will be built at a cost of 400 crores to complete hours of travel for Chauragarh in minutes. Due to the formation of ropeway, devotees will not have to climb 1360 stairs on foot.
Thousands of devotees come to Chauragarh to visit on normal days including Shivaratri. Especially a large number of devotees from Maharashtra come here. But due to high hill climbing, many devotees have to face troubles.
Nitin Gadkari approves
Darshan Singh Chaudhary, MP of Narmadapuram-Narsinghpur area, said, “Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved ropeway and vehicle parking at a cost of 400 crores to visit Chauragarh Mahadev Temple in Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district. The development of tourism is our priority.”
MP Darshan Singh Chaudhary has thanked Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for approval for ropeway construction. The MP said that apart from this, a plan to convert the untoward forest area adjacent to Pipariya into a picnic spot will also be done. These development works are expected to promote tourism in Pachmarhi. The local economy will also be strengthened by this.
More than one lakh devotees come on Shivaratri
About 12 km from Pachmarhi Nagar, there is a Chauragarh mountain amidst the dense forest of Satpura. A huge fair of 6 days is held here on Shivaratri, in which 50 to 80 thousand devotees come daily. On the day of Shivaratri, the number of devotees crosses 1 lakh. A large number of people come to visit even on normal days.
Special importance of offering trident
Offering trident in the Chauragarh temple has special significance. It is believed that Lord Bholenath appeared to him by being pleased with the penance of Chora Baba. At that time, Lord Shiva left his trident at this place. Under this belief, devotees offer trident by taking their wishes. A legend is also prevalent that Lord Mahadev took refuge in this hill to escape Bhasmasura.
Demand was being made for a long time
Local people had been demanding the construction of Pachmarhi-Chahargarh ropeway for a long time. A survey of planting ropeway was also done about 10 years ago, but the matter was cooled due to lack of permission to construct ropeway in Satpura Tiger Reserve.
