New York
Four Asian students, including an Indian studying in a government university in Michigan, the United States, have filed a case against the Trump administration against the possible exile from the US after incorrectly termination of their student immigration status. Chinmay Devre of India, Jiangay Bu and Kiyui Yang of China and Yogesh Joshi of Nepal on Friday filed a case against the ‘Department of Homeland Security’ (DHS) and immigration officials.
The four students have filed a lawsuit alleging that their student immigration status in ‘Student and Exchange Visiting Information System’ (SEVIS) was illegally terminated ‘without sufficient notice and clarification’. SEVIS is a figure that collects information about non-resident students and students (visitors) under educational exchange in the US.
F-1 student visa was canceled without reason
The ‘American Civil Liberty Union’ of Michigan, who is representing the students, has said that he has filed a federal suit on behalf of the students and requested to issue an emergency prohibition, whose F-1 student immigration status has been abolished illegally and suddenly without any valid cause and no notice by the Trump administration. They can complete their studies and avoid facing the risk of custody and exile.
Neither crime, nor convicted, then why action?
The court’s complaint stated, “None of them have been accused of any crime in the US, nor are they guilty. Nobody has violated any immigration law. Neither have they been active in protests in the campus on any political issue.”
The complaint includes the names of DHS Secretary Christie NoM, Executive ICE Director Todd Leone and ICE Detroit Field Office Director Robert Lynch. Similar cases have been filed across the country including states like New Hampshire, Indiana and California. Let me tell you that in a similar case a few days ago, the US judge temporarily stopped the Trump administration from deportation of 21 -year -old Indian graduate Krish Lal Isardasani, whose student visa was canceled. Krish is going to graduate in May.
