Openai is going to stir the world of technology once again. The company is going to bring an agent AI called A-Swe that can not only coding but can also do testing, bug fixing and documentation. This can lead to a big change in the world of software engineering.
Openai’s new AI Agent: A-Swe
What is A-Swe?
Openai is working on its third AI agent called A-Swe (Agentic Software Engineer). This will be an automated tool that will not only coding but also do the work itself like quality assurance (QA), bug testing, bug fixing and documentation itself. Openai’s CFO Sara Fire has confirmed this.
How will A-Swe work?
A-SWE can create a complete application by itself by taking a project requirement (PR). That is, where today an entire team works for coding, testing and documentation, A-Swe alone will be able to do all this.
“It will also work that usually likes to do not do software engineers – such as QA and Bug Bashing.”
– Sara Fire, CFO, Openai
Technology behind A-Swee
A-Swe will be based on an advanced language model that is more advanced than already existing AI tools such as Copilot. It will have the ability to understand the natural language and convert it into code, as well as it will be able to correct itself by checking the code made.
Which AI agents have come so far?
Openai has already launched two AI agents:
- Operator (launched in January 2025)
- Deep Research (launched in February 2025)
- Both of them are currently available only to the paid users of Chatgpt.
Is engineers’ jobs in danger?
The launch of A-SWE has made the fear that the job of software engineers will be affected? But experts believe that it is too early to say this. These tools can still give confusing or wrong information.
How right to trust AI?
Large language is a major problem of models (LLMS) – “Getting wrong with confidence.” That is, these AI tools present wrong information with such confidence that the front does not understand the difference.
Why not panic now?
Openai’s claims are not always accurate. The same happened in the case of Deep Research – claimed that it would replace a human research assistant, but it has not yet met the expectation.
History of claims of Openai…
| Tool | Claim | reality |
| Copilot | Developer’s help | Limited success |
| Deep Research | Research Assistant Option | Partly |
| A-Swee | Engineer’s complete work | Tbd |
Who in the match?
Openai is not alone in this race. Apart from these, companies like XAI (Allen Musk’s company) and Perplexity are also working on similar tools. That is, competition in the market has become very fast.
What does the future say?
AI is developing fast, but no one has been able to replace human mind yet. A-Swe may become an all-in-one software engineer, but it is still behind a human’s creative thinking, experience and logic.
