Nutrition Fortnight 2025 in Madhya Pradesh: Bust with malnutrition, step towards healthy future

The seventh “Nutrition Fortnight” in Madhya Pradesh from 8 to 22 April 2025 is being celebrated with full enthusiasm and awareness. Like every year, this time also the work is being done to prevent malnutrition and promote balanced lifestyle through various public awareness activities in the state. The objective of this important campaign of the Central Government is to laid the foundation of a healthy society by explaining the importance of nutrition to the common people, women and children. Nutrition Fortnight 2025 is being focused on the importance and utility of the first 1000 golden days of life, the information and utility of the beneficiaries of the Nutrition Tracker app, managing serious malnourished children from CMAM protocol and protecting children less than 6 years from obesity.

Golden 1000 days – Strong foundation of life
From pregnancy to the first two years after birth, 1000 golden days are very important for the mental and physical development of the child. During this time 85 percent of his lifetime gets intellectual development. Mothers are being motivated for balanced diet and breastfeeding, laying special emphasis on nutrition and care during this period in Nutrition Pakhwada.

Nutrition Tracker App – Digital monitoring of nutrition
It is now possible to monitor the nutritional level sitting at home through the nutrition trekker app ‘Poshantracker.in’. This app enables the beneficiaries to monitor the nutrition of children and mothers along with digitizing Anganwadi services. Beneficiary modules have been developed by the Government of India under the Nutrition Trekker app. In this, the beneficiaries can monitor the nutritional level development of children from their registered mobile number and monitor the nutrition food from them at home.

CMAM strategy control malnutrition
Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) in the state, the management of serious malnutrition at the community level started from the year-2020 under the Chief Minister’s Child Health Promotion Program. Nutrition Pakhwada is being identified by very serious malnourished (SAM), very low weight and medium severe malnourished (MAM) children and their health checkup and very serious malnourished (Sam) children are being checked and nutrition management is being done with the help of family at the community level.

Vigilance from obesity in childhood
According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) report, the increase in obesity rate in children is worrying. Keeping this in mind, the government has adopted a policy of keeping children away from junk food and promoting nutritious food. In order to feed nutritious food to children in Nutrition Pakhwada and to promote nutritious food in schools, children at risk of obesity are being identified and their parents are being given nutrition consultation.

Wave of awareness across the state
Theme -based activities, yoga sessions, sports, nutrition rally, cycle rally, anemia awareness camps, lunch box competitions and group discussions are being organized at Anganwadi centers. Registration in the nutrition tracker is being encouraged to ensure timely diagnosis of nutritional levels of mothers and children and timely diagnosis of problems.
