If you want to add your partner’s name to the passport after marriage, then now you do not need to take tension of marriage certificate. The Ministry of External Affairs has made this rule much easier than ever, which has brought great relief to millions of people.
It was mandatory to submit a marriage certificate to add the name of the husband or wife to the first passport. This process was especially difficult in those states where making certificates after marriage is not in common trend – like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
Now the Ministry of External Affairs has recognized the self-proclaimed letter, ending this obligation. That is, now you will get the facility to fill your spouse’s name in the passport by just filling an easy form, some important information and photos.
Annexure J will now become your support
Under the new arrangement, a document called Annexure J has been introduced, which will include a joint picture of both of you, and some basic information with your science. This form will serve as a declaration and this document will be considered a proof of marriage for the passport authority.
