During the music concert held at the city’s prestigious Jet Set Night Club, 184 people have died so far, while many others are seriously injured. Hundreds of people engaged in rescue work
Rescue operations continue with the help of heavy machines, investigative dogs and drones at the scene. Juan Manuel Mendez, head of emergency service, said that people are still trapped in the rubble and their screams are heard. Many victims have been admitted to nearby hospitals. The ambulance had to go round so many times that two-three injured were taken along at a time.
Famous singer and minister’s son missing
On Monday night, the famous Merngue singer Ruby Perez was performing in the show. He has not been detected since the accident. It was said earlier that he had been taken to the hospital but his brother said that he is still in the rubble. The son of the Public Works Minister and his wife also has no idea. It is expected that they are safe.
Politics and sports got shock
Governor Nelsi M. Kruz Martinez, the Governor of Dominican province, also fell victim to the accident. President Luis Abinadar said that he had called a few minutes after the accident, but later died. American Major League baseball players Octavio Dotele and Tony Blanco were also killed in the accident. Expressing grief, the Baseball Commissioner said that there is a deep relationship between sports and dominican society, and this is a huge loss.
Family expectations and tears
After the accident, dozens of people were seen standing in search of their loved ones in the scorching sun outside the club. Somebody’s brother was missing, someone’s husband. There was an atmosphere of screaming and helplessness at the scene. Hearing the news of her brother’s death, a woman shouted, “My dear brother!” At the same time, a woman named Yeheris Ventura looked unconscious in search of her husband.
50 -year -old building became a trap of death
The building was earlier a cinema hall that was later converted into a nightclub. It is being told that this building also caught fire a few years ago. Carlos Mendoz Diaz, the head of the Dominican Association of Engineers, said that the incident may have happened due to all these incidents and poor maintenance. Officials have said that at the moment they are focusing on rescue work. The cause of the accident will be investigated later. The President and other ministers are constantly monitoring the scene.
