The Chhattisgarh government has formally implemented the Naxalite surrender/victim relief rehabilitation policy-2025, taking an important step for the areas affected by Naxalism in the state. According to the notification issued by the Home Department on 28 March 2025, instructions have been given to constitute special committees under the chairmanship of the District Collector in all the districts for effective implementation of this policy. This policy has been prepared for the purpose of rehabilitation and relief of the individuals and families suffering in Naxal violence such as death, serious injured or permanent disability as well as the Naxalites who surrendered.
Rehabilitation committee will be set up at district level
According to the notification, the committee to be constituted in each district will be the Collector Chairman, while the Superintendent of Police has been given the responsibility of the Secretary. Apart from this, two other officers and representatives of the armed forces will also be included in the committee, two other officers nominated by the Collector of the District Panchayat, the CEO of the District Panchayat, the Collector.
Nodal officers will be appointed
A nodal officer will be appointed at every district and sub-divisional level, whose mobile number and email address will be sent to the state government. These officers will monitor all rehabilitation works. The Home Department has directed that all the aggrieved cases till date should be identified after the formation of the state and the surrendered Naxalites should be selected and the proceedings of relief and rehabilitation should be done on priority.
A special portal is being developed under this policy, in which information of each victim and surrendered person will be recorded and they will be provided a unique ID. The concerned officials will regularly observe the dashboard of this portal and ensure the implementation of relief and rehabilitation works. The Home Department has directed the collectors that they will effectively complete the relief and rehabilitation proceedings in the time limit by following the guidelines prescribed under this policy.
