Start of marigold cultivation in 2022
Young farmer Devendra says, ‘My wife’s father used to cultivate marigold. So he had experience this. The wife gave the idea of farming. Searched about government help in the government website. After this, started the cultivation of marigold in the year 2022. At the same time, added roses in 60 decimals.
Currently, he is preparing roses on one acre, Rajnigandha on two acres and marigold cultivation on half an acre. Other farmers are also coming to them to see and understand the modern farming of roses and other flowers.
Employment throughout the year to 8-10 laborers
Farmer Devendra told that his rose flowers are demanded from Durg, Raipur to Odisha. Now there is a demand from other places. They are earning Rs 15 to 20 lakhs annually. Today, they are also providing employment to eight to 10 laborers throughout the year. He said that after graduating, he used to work to build and develop government and private parks by taking contracts. Devendra said that there was trouble in soil selection for rose cultivation because black soil is not suitable for this. Red soil is required. Murum used instead of red clay.
Plant from Pune and Bengaluru
He told that 32 thousand rose plants were ordered from Pune and Bengaluru. It has two varieties of top secret and jumelia. Top Secret Rose is also known as Taj Mahal. At the same time, Rajnigandha is sourced from Kolkata.
Big expenditure in building a shift house
He said that it cost about 60 to 70 lakh rupees for rose cultivation. When I started farming, I was discussing its cost. There will be no cost much. The highest cost came to build a Pali House.
About 52 lakh rupees were spent for the construction of Pali. For this, he also got subsidy from the government. He took a loan of 40 lakh rupees and imposed about 13 lakhs himself. Now they are also getting good income. Devendra said that the price of 20 to 30 rose bouquets is available up to Rs 150-250. At the same time, Rajnigandha has also started bringing the market.
