Fake cardiologist, accused in the case of death of 7 patients at a missionary hospital in Damoh district, allegedly underwent surgery of former Assembly Speaker and Congress leader Rajendra Prasad Shukla in a private hospital in Chhattisgarh in 2006, after which the politician died.

Madhya Pradesh Police has registered an FIR against the alleged doctor Narendra John Cam on Sunday midnight on the complaint of Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) MK Jain of Damoh district.

Congress MLA Rajendra Prasad Shukla from Kota assembly constituency of Bilaspur district died on 20 August 2006 in Apollo Hospital in Bilaspur city of Chhattisgarh. He served as the first Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2003.

Shukla’s youngest son Pradeep Shukla (62) said that fake doctor Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav was serving at Apollo Hospital in 2006, when his father was admitted there.

He said, Yadav suggested my father’s heart surgery and carried out him. After this, he was kept on ventilator for about 18 days before he was declared dead on 20 August 2006.

Pradeep Shukla said, Yadav started serving at Apollo Hospital a month or two ago. The Apollo Hospital then introduced him as the best cardiologist in Central India, who perform surgery using laser. Later, we came to know from others that Yadav did not have a doctor’s degree and was a fraud. Even earlier complaints were made against him and he was investigated by the Bilaspur unit of the Indian Medical Association.

He said, after the death of my father, some more cases of death of patients treated by Yadav, after which the hospital management asked him to leave Apollo Hospital. About 80 percent of the patients who were treated by Yadav died in the hospital.

Shukla said, in a way, our father and other patients were killed. When my father died, he was an MLA and the expenses of his treatment were borne by the state government. He said that investigation should be done against Yadav and Apollo Hospital, because they too have cheated the government.

Rajendra Prasad Shukla’s second son and Justice (retired) Anil Shukla said that like Madhya Pradesh, in Chhattisgarh, Yadavs and hospitals where they were working should be registered against them by registering an FIR.

Speaker dies after surgery

Pradeep Shukla (62), the youngest son of the former MLA, said that the alleged fake doctor Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav was working at Apollo Hospital in 2006 when his father was admitted there. Pradeep Shukla said, Yadav had done heart surgery of my father. After this, he was on a ventilator for 18 days before he died on 20 August. Yadav joined Apollo Hospital 1-2 months ago. Pradeep Shukla claimed that he was told by Apollo Hospital that Yadav is the best cardiologist and he does surgery using laser.

Pradeep Shukla further said that we later came to know that Yadav has no doctor’s degree and he is a fraud. Complaints were also made against him earlier. They were examined by the Bilaspur unit of the Indian Medical Association. Pradeep Shukla further said, “After my father’s death, some more cases of death of the patients who treated Yadav have also come up, after which he was asked to leave Apollo Hospital.”
Accused of killing father

Pradeep Shukla alleged that about 80 percent of the patients who treated Yadav died in the hospital, claiming that his father and others were “murdered”. Deep Shukla further said, when my father died, he was an MLA and the cost of his treatment was borne by the state government. Investigations should be conducted against Yadav and Apollo Hospitals as they too have cheated the government.

Another son of the former MLA, Justice (Retired) Anil Shukla said that an FIR should be lodged against Yadav and the hospital where he was working at that time. With this, Public Relations Officer of Apollo Hospital Devesh Gopal confirmed that Yadav had served there.
Data is being collected with a doctor

Public Relations Officer Gopal said, Yadav was associated with the hospital about 18-19 years ago. This is a very old matter. For how long he was posted and how many patients he handled, accurate figures are being collected. All data will be shared after the documents are collected.

Dr. Pramod Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bilaspur said that after the matter came to light, he has sought all the information from Apollo Hospital regarding Yadav. Dr. Tiwari said, Hospital Management has been asked to gather information about Dr. Narendra Vikramaditya on Tuesday morning. The information sought, includes how long he was working there, what was his degree and how many people did they operate.

He said that if any irregularity is found in the case, then a high -level inquiry committee will be constituted and accordingly further action will be taken against the person and the hospital management.

Public Relations Officer of Apollo Hospital Devesh Gopal confirmed that Yadav had worked there. He also said that during his tenure in the hospital, documents related to him are being collected, after which complete information about him will be shared.

Gopal said, he (Yadav) was connected about 18-19 years ago (from the hospital). This is a very old matter. Accurate information about them is being collected, such as how long they have been stationed and how many patients they treated. All factual details will be shared after all the documents are collected.

Dr. Pramod Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bilaspur, said that after the matter came to light, he has sought all the information about Yadav from Apollo Hospital management. The hospital management has been asked to give information about Dr. Narendra Vikramaditya, who was working there 18-19 years ago on the morning of 8 April (Tuesday).

Dr. Tiwari said that the information sought, includes how long he was working there, what is his degree and how many people did he operate.

He said that if any irregularity is found in the case, then further action will be taken against the person and hospital management by constituting a high level inquiry committee.
