Online speculative racket busted, police arrested 5 accused

Along with the IPL season, the Sarakanda police, which is keeping an eye on betting activities in the city, has busted the gang running online, taking a major action. Police arrested five youths from the spot and seized 6 mobile phones, a laptop and ₹ 10,390 cash from their possession.

Bilaspur SP Rajnesh Singh was behind this action, who ordered strictness on the increasing speculative activities during the cricket season. This action was taken under the leadership of police station in -charge Nilesh Kumar Pandey under the direction of Additional SP Udayan Behar and CSP Siddharth Baghel.

The police had received information from the informer that an online betting is being run secretly in a house in Kapil Nagar (Sarakanda). Immediately, all the accused were taken into custody from the spot.

Arrested accused:

1. Rajdeep Sahu (Amalidih, Balodabazar)

2. Kishore Kumar Koyal (Mohtara, Balodabazar)

3. Rath Ram Sahu (Gevra, Birra)

4. Vinay Kumar Patel (Siladehi, Birra, Janjgir Champa)

5. Dikeshwar Sahu (Amaldehi, Lormi, Mungeli)

How was online betting:

Police investigation revealed that the accused used to take live information about IPL matches through a mobile app called “Cricket Online Guru”. After this, he used to contact people through phone calls and chats and bet on every ball, over, and wicket.

Customers used to deposit money in the account of the accused in advance and after the end of the match, the money was transferred online. The police is now investigating the bank details of the accused and the betting players, so that the network can be fully disclosed.
