An aerospace startup called Sarla Aviation is going to start commercial air taxi service in India. First of all, this service will be started in Bengaluru and then it will be implemented in metros like Delhi and Mumbai.

Start from Bengaluru, expansion from Delhi and Mumbai

The Adrian Schmidt, who is the CEO and co-founder of Sarla Aviation, recently told the media that his company aims to start air taxi service in the country by 2028.

He said, “It will be started as a pilot project in Bengaluru and then it will be expanded in other parts of the country in 5 years.”

Air taxi was introduced in India

The company showcased its first air taxi zero during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year. On seeing this, people had experienced future journey. It is an air taxi based on an Evtol (electric vertical take-off and landing) technology, which can fly up directly without a runway.

Zero air taxi will be introduced with a cabin equipped with modern facilities. It will be made available in 6-seater and 4-seater configuration, as well as it can be customized for cargo transport.

Although the company has not yet given any clear information about the fare, he says that the fare will be kept economical, so that the common people can also use it as a daily commute.

Government’s role and cooperation

Sarla Aviation has raised $ 10 million in the series A funding round led by Accel. It has been attended by veteran investors like Binny Bansal of Flipkart, Nikhil Kamath and Sriharsha Majeti of Swigi. The company aims to launch 30 flying taxis in Bengaluru by 2028.
