China’s Finance Ministry said on Friday that an additional tariff of 34% will be imposed on all goods imported from the US from April 10. The ministry said that this tariff of China is a reply to the recent tariff of America.

The ministry said in a statement, ‘On 2 April 2025, the US government imposed a reciperook tariff on all the Chinese goods imported in the country. This move of America is against international trade regulations that damage China’s legitimate rights. It is Dadagiri which will not only harm America’s interests but will also danger global economic development, stability of production and supply chain.

The Chinese Ministry urged the US to remove the tariff, saying, “China urges the US to remove its unilateral tariff measures immediately through dialogue so that all the differences about business can be resolved.”

China will also control the export of Rare Earth Metals to America

Angered by the American tariff, China is not only imposing equal tariff on America, but it has also said that it will now control America the export of rare meaning metals.

China has said that it is controlling the export of the US moderate and heavy rare meaning metals i.e. rare-earth metals. These metals include Samaryium, Gadolinium, Terbium, Dysprocyum, Lutetium, Scandium and Yitrium. This control has also been implemented from April 4.

The Commerce Ministry said in a statement, ‘The Chinese government is implementing export control on relevant goods as per law. Its purpose is to protect national security and interests and fulfill international obligations like nuclear non -proliferation.

China had already threatened counter tariffs

Trump had already imposed a tariff of 20% on Chinese goods imported into the US. On April 2, he again imposed a 34% recipe tariff on China, after which America’s tariff on Chinese goods increased to 54%.

On Thursday, China condemned the US reciperook tariff, saying that it would ‘strongly oppose these methods and implement retaliation to protect their rights, interests’.

In a statement on Thursday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce Criticizing the tariff, calling it a violation of the international trade criteria and argued that it causes great damage to the legitimate rights of the affected countries.
