New record of Indian Railways, 7,134 coaches in the last financial year

Indian Railways has achieved significant achievement by constructing 7,134 coaches in the financial year 2024-25. This number is about 9 percent more than the production of 6,541 coaches last year. Keeping in mind the common man, the production of non -air -conditioned coaches is being promoted. To achieve this target, 4,601 non AC coaches were produced in the last financial year. This historical achievement reflects the continuous increase in the production capacity of Indian Railways, which is the result of modernization of infrastructure and efforts being made to meet the growing needs of passengers. This will make rail services more convenient, safe and efficient. Which will give passengers to experience better travel.
Indian Railways has three coach manufacturing units. Which includes Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala, Punjab and Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has produced 3,007 coaches in the year 2024-25 to break the previous production records.

In the year 2024-25, there has been a significant increase in coach production by coach construction units of Indian Railways. Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai had produced 2,829 coaches in the year 2023-24, which has increased to 3,007 in 2024-25, ie 178 coaches have registered an increase.
1,901 coaches were created by Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala in the year 2023-24, while in 2024-25 it has increased to 2,102 coaches, which has increased 201 coaches.
Similarly, the Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Rae Bareli produced 1,684 coaches in the year 2023-24, which has increased to 2,025 coaches in 2024-25. This unit has recorded the highest growth of 341 coaches.
These data provide positive signs of resource extension according to the production capacity and demand of Indian Railways.

During the last few years, Indian Railways has recorded a significant increase in the coach construction sector. Between 2004 and 2014, an average was close to 3,300 coaches per year. Between 2014 and 2024, coach production figures reached 54,809 with a record increase, an average of 5,481 coaches. This increase in the coach construction sector is decisive towards achieving self -sufficiency by Indian Railways. It aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity, reduce importance on imports and adopt state -of -the -art technology in the railway structure. This achievement of Indian Railways in the construction of rail coaches gives a new dimension to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. At the same time, India establishes India as a leading country on the world stage.
