BCCI prepares to keep cricket veteran Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s A+ grade

New Delhi
Indian cricket legendary players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are going to retain A grade in the Central Contract List of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) for 2025-26, while Shreyas Iyer, who was allegedly absent in domestic cricket, is going to return from the list last time. Such report has come out.

BCCI is preparing to keep Virat and Rohit in A Plus grade, under which they will get Rs 7 crore despite retiring from T20 Eye format. Rohit and Virat took retirement in this format after ending the drought of India’s ICC Trophy by winning the T20 World Cup in Barbados last year. BCCI sources said, “Rohit and Virat will continue their A grade central contract (Rs 7 crore) even after retiring from the T20I format. He is a big player and will be given the honor he deserves. Shreyas Iyer’s central contract is certain.”

Rohit Sharma may not have been seen in rhythm for some time, but in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025, he had won the team by playing a brilliant innings. In a way, it should be said that after finishing the T20I career in a memorable manner, the veteran opener’s bat has calmed down, so nothing will be wrong in it. India had seen his captaincy in Test format since 3–0 domestic Test series against New Zealand, while the bat also remained calm.

At the same time, when we talk about Virat Kohli, his bat also remained calm in Test and ODI cricket. He definitely scored a century in the Champions Trophy, but he did not appear as impressive there. He scored just 190 runs in 10 innings in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He questioned him after the 1-3 series defeat against Australia. Virat scored just 655 international runs in 23 matches and 32 innings last year. His average was 21.83, including a century and two half -centuries. His best score was 100*.

On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan were excluded from the Central Contract List of BCCI. Since then, Shreyas has worked hard in the domestic circuit of India and showcased great form. In his last Ranji Trophy campaign, Shreyas scored 480 runs for Mumbai in five matches at an average of 68.57 and a strike rate of 90.22. With 345 runs in nine matches, Shreyas Syed Mushtaq Ali was the fourth highest run -scorer in the Trophy. He also performed his great form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 325 runs in five matches at an excellent average of 325.00. He was part of the team winning the Champions Trophy of India in February and ended as the country’s leading run-scorer in the tournament scoring 243 runs in five matches. In this way, they are also going to get a contract. However, Ishaan Kishan may have to wait.
