The “Jal Ganga Promotion” Maha Abhiyan to save the drop of rainwater in the state is going to start from today on the day of Gudi Padwa. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will duly inaugurate the “Jal Ganga Promotion Abhiyan” along with Varun (Jal Deity) Pujan and Jalabhishek on the Kshipra coast in Ujjain, the city of Baba Mahakal. This state -wide campaign will run continuously for more than 90 days till June 30 in the summer season. During this, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will inaugurate a small and big water structure every day. This campaign of water conservation will improve the ground water level in the state. Save the drop of water, only then our breath will be saved. The Government of Madhya Pradesh is determined for the conservation of people, water, forest, land and wildlife. He said that the water conservation campaign of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has become a widespread mass movement across the country. The state government is also campaigning towards water conservation on the principle of ‘farm water in the field-village-village water in the village’.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in order to encourage water conservation in “Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign”, special emphasis is being laid on adopting rainwater harvesting, revival of water sources and adoption of water conservation techniques. This campaign of the state government will play an important role in increasing awareness about water conservation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has instructed all the concerned departments to add more and more people to the campaign by giving priority to schemes related to water conservation. He said that “Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign”, there will be a milestone in ensuring abundant availability of water in the state and water security for future generations. In the state -wide water promotion campaign of Panchayat and Rural Development Department, more than 12 other departments including Water Resources, Narmada Valley Development Authority, Environment Department, Urban Development and Housing, Public Health Engineering, School Education, Horticulture and Agriculture will work together to renovate water structures. The theme of the campaign has been kept ‘promoting and conservation of water sources’ with public participation.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has conducted various activities of water harvesting-such as plantation, revival of water sources, running water conservation awareness programs in rural areas, making children aware of water conservation, ponds in rural areas, small dams in rural areas, small dam construction and rivers for conservation of rivers and focus on fruitful cultivation around the rivers, to encourage the major plants of fruitful plants and organic farming around the main intensity of rural and urban areas. Instructions have been given. He has also appealed to all the citizens of the state to make active contribution towards water conservation and make it a mass movement during the campaign in the state.

Important works will be done in “Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign”
The construction of ponds at the panchayat level, redevelopment of water structures in forest areas and zoological parks for wildlife will be done.
90 small and medium irrigation projects of the state will be inaugurated in 90 days of the campaign.
Aquatic organisms in rivers will be restored.
50 thousand new farm-ponds will be made for small and marginal farmers.
Work will be done in ponds, water sources and temples of historical, cultural and religious importance.
The Panchayat and Rural Development Department will build 1000 new ponds.
Water conservation and promotion works will be done in the water shed area of ​​more than 50 rivers of the state.
To keep the water streams of rivers alive, emphasis will be laid on gabian structure, trench, plantation, check dam and pond construction.
The action plan for water conservation and plantation will be prepared by identifying the Narmada Parikrama Path.
Water chaupal will be held in rural areas. Local people will be entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining water structures.
About 1 lakh sterils will be prepared in the state by selecting women and men from each village.
Soak pit construction will be encouraged to ensure that dirty water of sewage is not found in water sources.
Conservation of canals, preventing leakage from reservoirs, pitching of ponds, barrage repair works.
The Urban Development and Housing Department will work to promote water structures.
The canals will be marked as a “government canal” on the village-map.
Encroachment will be freed to dams and canals. Cleaning of about 40 thousand kilometers long canal system will be done.
Flushbar will also be repaired and cleaning of sluce-wail will also be done.
Various events will be organized including Sadanira Film Festival, Jal Sammelan, narrative on the water traditions of the state, picture exhibition.
