The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has implemented the Armed Forces Special Rights Act (AFSPA) Act (LAW) throughout the region of Manipur, although 13 police station areas have been excluded from it. Along with this, in Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh (Manipur & Nagaland & Arunachal Pradesh), in the Tirap, Changlang and Longing districts and three police station areas of the state, Afspa has been extended for the next six months (Six Months).
At the same time, AFSPA has also been expanded in Nagaland. It has been implemented in 21 police station areas of eight districts and other five districts of the state. This expansion will be effective for the next six months.
Central government notification
According to the notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs, after the Central Government reviewed the status of law and order in the state of Manipur, using the powers provided by Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Power) Act, 1958, except for the areas coming under the jurisdiction of 13 police stations in five districts, from 1 April 2025 to the next six months in the entire Manipur, if this announcement was declared earlier, it was declared as ‘trivial field’.
Afspa will not apply in these areas
The police station areas of Manipur have not been implemented. These include Infal, Lamfal, City, Singajami, Pattasoi, Wangoi, Porommat, Hingang, Irilbung, Thobbal, Bishnupu, Nambol and Kakching.
Important decision taken in Northeast
Along with this, the Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the period of Afspa in the districts of Dimapur, NIVEND, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kifir, Nokalak, Fake and Peren in Nagaland. Khunjama, Kohima North, Kohima Dakshin, Zubaja and Kejocha under the jurisdiction of police stations, Mangkolemba, Mokokchung-I, Longtho, Tuli, Longchem and Anaqi ‘C’ police stations have also been declared disturbed.
