Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to Senior General of Myanmar, His Excellency Min Aung Having. He said that India is standing in solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this difficult time. In a post on X, Modi said, “Talked to Myanmar’s Senior General Excellency Min Aung Having. He expressed his deep condolences on the deaths in the devastating earthquake. As a close friend and neighbor, India stands with solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this difficult time. Operation is sent to the affected areas under the operation, Brahma.”
A high -intensity earthquake on Friday occurred in Myanmar and neighboring Thailand, destroying buildings, bridges and other infrastructure. At least 1,002 people died in Myanmar. India sent more than 15 tonnes of relief material to Myanmar on Saturday. The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal said in a post that as part of ‘Operation Brahma’, India worked as the first actor to assist the people of Myanmar affected by the fierce earthquake of Friday. Our first consignment of 15 tonnes of relief materials including tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food packets, hygiene kits, generators and essential medicines has reached Yangon. ”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed concern over the devastating earthquake. He wrote on X, “I am worried about the situation after the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. I pray for the safety and prosperity of all. India is ready to provide all possible help. In this regard, we have asked our officials to be ready. Also asked the Ministry of External Affairs to stay in touch with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand.”
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar on Friday afternoon, after the earthquake that occurred near Sagiing, 12 shocks of 2.8 to 7.5 magnitude were felt, causing the situation to worse in the affected areas. The information team of the State Administration Council of Myanmar has informed that 1,002 people were killed in the earthquake, 2,376 people were injured and 30 people are still missing. Myanmar leader Senior General Min Aung Having has appealed to local and international communities for humanitarian aid.
