Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini announced on Tuesday that the state government has decided to give Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat in wrestling politics equal to the Olympic silver medal winner. This decision has been taken under the state sports policy. In fact, Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat recently raised this issue during the assembly session from Julana assembly seat in Jind district. The state cabinet, considering the matter as a special exception, has decided to honor Vinesh Phogat under the sports policy. The government also clarified that he is now an MLA. Therefore, they will be given the option to take the decision to take which benefits they want to take.
Olympic medalist gets these benefits
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that under the sports policy of the Haryana government, three major benefits are given to the Olympic silver medalist. Out of which players can choose the same award. A cash prize of four crore rupees, Group ‘A’ is given a government job and a plot of Haryana Urban Development Authority.
Disqualifying was done when weight was high before Olympic final
Let us know that Vinesh Phogat was disqualified for a technical reason in the Paris Olympics 2024. He was disqualified due to high weight before the final match of the 50 kg weight category. Despite this, he won the semi -final match and the Haryana government, considering his performance as historic, announced the status of Olympic medalist.
Vinesh reminded the Chief Minister his promise
The Chief Minister had tweeted at that time that Haryana’s daughter Vinesh Phogat will not be allowed to reduce the honor. During the assembly session, Vinesh Phogat had reminded the Chief Minister that the Chief Minister had said that Vinesh is our daughter and she would get the same award as the Olympic silver medalist, but the promise has not been fulfilled yet.
