Officials said that this fourth policeman has been martyred in the encounter. Security forces have killed three terrorists. He said that on the second day too, loud sounds of heavy firing and explosions were heard. Police, army and CRPF entered the area from different directions this morning. Officials said that the campaign started again as soon as dawn. The main objective of the security forces was to remove the bodies of terrorists and policemen killed, find a missing policeman and end any possible threat in the area.

He said that security forces are growing carefully because it is believed that two more terrorists are hiding there. He was earlier considered dead, but his bodies could not be seen by drone. Officials said the campaign against militants near Jakhole village in Juthana, Valley of Rajbagh, started at around 8 am on Thursday.

Three militants were killed in retaliation with the help of Army and CRPF under the leadership of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Five policemen, including a sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), were allegedly trapped near a shooting place, near a drain surrounded by dense trees. This further increased stress. The SadiPO (a DSP rank officer) was evacuated from the spot in an injured state late on Thursday, while his three private security officers were found dead. The body of a policeman was seen this morning.

Apart from SDPO, three more policemen were admitted to Kathua Hospital and their condition is said to be stable. Two army personnel were injured in the campaign. The army has deployed sniffer dogs and drones to eliminate the remaining terrorists. Reports states that 9 to 10 terrorists may hide here.
