Myanmar
The earthquake tremors have been felt in Myanmar on Friday. The intensity of the earthquake was 7.7. An under -construction house collapsed in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, hundreds of miles away from the earthquake. There are still 43 laborers stranded in it. According to the US Geological Survey, the second blow occurred only after 12 minutes of the first shock of the earthquake in Myanmar. The intensity of the second earthquake was 6.4. The epicenter of this earthquake was 18 km south of Sagiing. An employee of the rescue team in Mandalay, the second major city in Myanmar, told the BBC that there was a huge devastation due to the earthquake and hundreds of people are feared dead.
Officials said that an under -construction multi -storeyed building in Bangkok collapsed with the earthquake tremors. In a video broadcast on social media, a multi-storey building is seen collapsing between the dust dust and the people present there are screaming. More than 40 laborers are feared trapped in the building debris. Police told the ‘Associated Press’ that they are doing relief and rescue work at the scene near Bangkok’s ‘Chatuchak Market’.
According to initial reports, the US Geological Survey and the GFZ Geology Center of Germany reported that the earthquake in the afternoon came at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi), which was in the neighboring country of Myanmar. There is no immediate news of the effect of earthquake in Myanmar. The Greater Bangkok region has a population of more than 1.70 crores, many of which live in an apartment with tall buildings. When the earthquake reached around half past one in the afternoon, the alarms started ringing in the buildings and people were taken out of the high -populated central Bangkok buildings and hotels. The earthquake was so powerful that in the interiors of some tall buildings, waves were seen rising in the ‘swimming pool’.
Dr. O.P. Mishra gave information about six earthquakes in Myanmar on Friday. He said that the earthquake came to the longest fault line, Sagang Fault. The Sagang Fault extends about 1200 km. He also stated that this was not the first earthquake of intensity above 7 on the Richter scale.
Talking to the media, Mishra said, “This was at Myanmar’s longest fault, Sagang Fault. Its length is 1200 km. The fault has caused many earthquakes of more than 7 magnitude in the past. This is not the first earthquake of 7 magnitude.” He further stated that the depth of the earthquake was between 20 and 30 kilometers, which falls into the shallow category. This means that the earthquake was not much below the ground. There is a possibility of more damage on the surface. The closer the earthquake is to the land, the greater the loss. Therefore, this earthquake can also cause damage.
A powerful earthquake occurred on Friday in the city of Naaypedo, Myanmar. The earthquake caused havoc in the city. There were lines of injured outside the Emergency Department of Naipedo’s largest hospital. Many victims were groaning with pain, while some were sitting in shock soaked in dust and blood. The roads were constantly injured after the breakdown of the roads and uprooting the coal tar.
Some people were coming in cars and pickup trucks, while some were being brought on stretcher. A hospital official asked the journalists to leave the treatment area, saying, “This is a mass casualty area.” The hospital official said this because there were many injured people there. The 1,000-bed hospital also suffered a lot of damage. Some parts of the Emergency Department collapsed due to violent tremors. A car was buried under a concrete that fell at the entrance.
