Sunil Kumar made history by giving India a bronze medal in wrestling after 13 years at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China recently. Sunil won this medal representing the country in the 87 kg category of Greco Roman. Earlier, gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, silver in the world rankings series held in 2019, bronze in Junior Asia Kushti Championship in 2019 and silver medal in Senior Asian Championships in 2019, Senior Asian Wrestling Championships held in the year 2020, gold in 2020 in 2020, continuous world rankings series, 2021 to 2023 Bronze at the championship, gold in Senior Asia Under 23 in 2022, gold in the world rank series held in 2022, has won India by winning the gold medal in the World Racking Series in 2023.
Arjuna Award has been received in January 2024
Dabarpur wrestler Sunil Kumar was awarded the Arjuna Award by President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in January 2024. Sunil Kumar was given this honor for his best performance in Greco Roman style wrestling. After 2013, no wrestler received this award.
